1t308b

Hey, I just got 2 of these as extras with a d9e order.  They are both 71 hfe and 0 leakage according to my dca55.  Any pedal recommendations?  I'm new to this whole germanium thing, so sorry if this question is getting old.

Two with that sort of gain range will sound great in a Fuzz Face.  With some transistors, including these, you really don't need to get to the often quoted gain ranges to make a great sounding pedal.

Well Silver Blues has been working on something special to use these GT308 transistors in, so you may want to hang on to them 'til he comes up with the goods.

Just about anything you fancy PNP-wise is the answer to your question though!

Indeed, I'm just waiting on some pots from Tayda because using off-value trimmers as controls is no good

Super excited for silvers design. It should be awesome.

If you use sockets, you can build a few things and try them out and swap them around whenever, and then get more Ge's. I'm sure these will be nowhere near your last.

With that being said, they would make an awesome fuzzface, you could make 2 rangemasters, 2 PNP germanium giants, pretty much anything that used Ge's should be good, just make sure they layout if for PNP or you'll have to reverse all electrolytics.

The Mosrite Fuzzrite is always an awesome option.

Oh boy now I'm under some pressure  it's not anything too extraterrestrial, but it should make a nice, big gnarly fuzz. It's a silicon/germanium hybrid thing.

Would a pair like this really sound good in a Fuzzrite though? I would think to try something with some leakage first. I haven't built a Ge version yet though. If only I had the balls to desolder the trannies in mine and test them!

Definitely interested to hear what has worked well for you!

For me I'd probly just build an FF with these, or hybrid FF and a Rangemaster :P

I find that in the dam-69 which is basically a Ge fuzzrite you need a low gain and high gain, Q1 & Q2 respectively, otherwise it gets farty. But that could just be be used the transistors all have no leakage, or because it's a dam pedal...

Well I built a NPN Fuzzrite using some of my MP38s - I used Miro's layout on the main page, and that sounds awesome.

I've not yet tried a PNP version using GT308s though.
