Adding a buffer to Ernie Ball VP

at_sunshine
Hey all! Wondering how i can go about adding a buffer to my Ernie Ball VPJR. I've already built the Klon (TL072) buffer and am now just trying to figure out how to add it into the VP. From what i have gathered it appears that Pot lug 3 is connected to Input, 2 to output, and 3 to ground. I went ahead and added the buffer to the same joints that the pot's input and output are wired to and matched this to input/output on the buffer schematic, but i'm pretty sure this isn't actually doing anything for me--it works whether or not i have power attached, and i can't notice any difference.

Every company i have seen that does buffer mods to VPs (JHS, T1M, Thru-tone, etc) seem to require power for the VP to work after the mod, so i don't think i've really accomplished anything so far haha. I've made standalone buffers that work just fine in the past, so i think it's ok--just trying to figure out how to wire it so that the vp itself is buffered. Thanks!!
