Adding an expression pedal to control the rate on the Madbean Wigl

GrooveChampion
I've read the article regarding expression pedal modifications on any pedal, I've got the switched stereo output jack, but problem is I have no idea which one of the lugs on the rate knob are connected to ground. I have no idea how to wire this.

A little help please?

Why would you connect one of the lugs to ground?

From what I understood in the Geofex article one of the lugs is usually a ground lug, now I might be mistaken about it cos I have no idea if any of the lugs on the rate pot even go to ground, which make everything a bit more complicated for me.

I have no idea how to wire this thing, this is the switchable stereo jack I bought:

That jack is not going to do it: Many controls do have lug 1 as ground (e.g voltage divider volume pots) but not this one. The wigl rate is a voltage divider, but it connects via a 1k resistor to vb aka 4.5 volts on lug 1 so your metal frame jack will short the 1/2 supply bus to ground via the enclosure.

The wiring for a switching jack for exp pedal connection is shown in a thread below about adding an expression pedal jack to the split 'n blend circuit which has a similar issue (blend pot needs to not be grounded at lug 1) so you'll need to follow that diagram using an insulated plastic jack, or at a push try putting electrical tape around where your metal jack meets the enclosure surface.

Actually I did insulate the jack from the chassis using electrical tape.

Thanks man! I actually have these mono switched jacks, so I just sacrificed one and pulled one of the lugs sets off of it and added it to another mono to create a stereo jack! Cant believe I spent 10 bucks on those Switchcraft things....
