Another toner transfer question - replacement toner cartriges?

I picked up a used HP 1102 laserjet last year for $20. it had about 10% toner life left in it at the time and i've finally used up all the toner.

i've had good results with this printer (genuine HP cartridge) but i don't want to spend $100+ for a new hp toner cart.

has anyone tried doing toner transfer with these refilled toner cartridges?  any feedback?
