Any way of blending different pair of clipping diodes?

alex.s
Been thinking about a Rat with a blend function to blend between LED and Germanium clipping. In my head the control would be something like this:

My doubt though is that it would work when 100% on either side but not as soon as resistance is added at either side, as the signal wouldn't like the resistance and continue on its path before going to ground via the diodes... Would that be the case?

And, should it be the case indeed, is there any other way of going about this clipping blend idea? Or should I resign myself to opting to switches with multiple combination of pairs (ie LED only/LED and Ge/Ge etc)?

I think it would work, but you're going to have to experiment with values so that you get a "middle position" where you can hear something from both pairs and not obscure them.  Also you will find that if you use germanium and silicon for instance, the difference in voltage drop will come into play and so you may find a log or reverse log pot (depending which lug you attach the diode with the lower voltage drop) will get a better results in a more central position.  A bit of breadboarding required I reckon.

Good to know there is hope!
Will give it a go in the next few days and report back...

This is something I have been studying recently whilst finishing my harmonic percolator version. I found this site was an interesting read:

See the bits on saturation controls and warp controls.
Thanks

Thanks Dave, the AMZ lab and schematics never fail to provide with ideas and inspiration...!

Also, being on a boring job with some time on my hands, I came out with something that could make it all simpler:

Hope to give this all a go very soon, busy week so far this ween and little time for pottering with pedals etc..!
