BJFE Honey Bee build is Squealing

I posted this on the layout page, but I figured I'd put it here, too, just in case this is an obvious problem for someone who's had something similar before.

None of my builds are going right lately.  Finished the BJFE Honey Bee, it sounds really nice at low gain. When I turn the Drive knob above noon, there's a high pitch squeal that increases in pitch as I turn the drive knob up more. Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar?  Unfortunately I only have one 3130 on-hand.  Tried a few 5457's with the same result.

Well... I read the forums some more. Tried the pedal again with a bypassed Boss (buffered) pedal in front of it.  No squealing at all.  That is one strange problem.  I'll try the shielded wiring suggestion in that other thread... but what a weird issue.

I investigated a squealing issue with my OCD build.  Like you I found that a BOSS buffer seemed to quench the squeal.  However, a simpler IC or jfet buffer didn't work.  Sometimes, using shielded cable for the input and/or output helps.  But in my OCD build, I swapped out the IC and that cured it!  So, see if you can procure some CA3130s - perhaps a new IC will fix the problem.  Good luck!

replacing the IC in my purple plexi cured squealing so I second the IC option.

Thanks Frank and Vince.  I gave in and just ordered a handful of 3130's on eBay.  Hopefully that helps.  Thanks for the info guys.
