I built one of those. IMO, the Paia gator is actually a better pedal that does the same thing after a couple of mods.

BTW, here's a pic of my completed slow gear. it follows the original schematic and parts list exactly and works & sounds exactly like the original (my buddy still has one).

I've been wondering if building a Slow Gear is worth it. I have a friend who's wanted one forever so I might just make one for her one day!

I think that they're great.
I've built two of them now and both of them sounded a lot  better with a 2SK30A over the 2N5457 for the Jfet.
