Glad you guys liked my builds! But I gotta say, you guys make some "pro" looking stuff. My builds look like they were painted by a 3-year old. Haha. I just use acrylic paint pens and a little clear-coat.

Hey JaviCAP, what jacks are you using in those builds? For my 1590A, builds I use the low-profile ones that can be found on small bear. They do the job very well, but I always preferred metal jacks. I can't imagine you are stuffing those circuits into a 1590A using standard Neutrik style jacks...

Here are the ones I use. They are very low profile so you can lay the circuit boards on top of them. Without these guys, there is no way I could cram half the stuff I do in a 1590A. Learned about them from Madbean.

Hi Roo,

Well, I use ordinary open grame neutrik like jacks :) There are two tricks using these jacks:

- You have to measure extremely exact, but the lower jack's tip metal frame should be touching the 3PDT. Now you have to measure the minimum distance for the upper jack. It has to be so close that once inserted both jacks  are separated  by about 2mm. This way you get the jacks fit  very tight  and you have enough room to fit a 18x10 vero without even touching the jacks. Always try to get 7 mm from upper part of the jack frame to the enclosere's border.

- 2nd trick: Bend all electrolithic caps, cut very short the trannies pins, so the higher point in your build is the socketed trannie or a socketed IC, that's about 7mm high. If besides you place the vero with the soldered side up, you won't have to worry even  it the lower side of the vero touches the in/out jack

What are you all using for your graphics?

I tried the waterslide stuff, but it just does not wanna play ball for me!  My application technique is gash & it just seems to roll up on me, or tear as I try & smooth it.  Then it piddles me off & I end up binning the idea off & reach for my Dymo, she & I are friends!

Hey Milkit, I use good ol' regular waterslide. I find if you give it a good couple of coats of clear lacquer after you have printed (dry in between coats) then it makes it stronger when you wet it and apply it. I don't really bother with them much now as I've grown lazy and just reach for my tin of hammerite!

Wow, thats impressive!

But I think I'll stick with my low profile jacks. No real stress with those. I can fit most circuits up to 14 holes across by about 23 holes long.

Yeah, these low profile jacks are exactly what I need for my next project: a complete Fuzz Factory on a 1590A.

The only problem in this project are the jacks, so I definetely need these low prof ones. Hope to find them at some other place because $9 s&h for 4 jacks is too much.

Ah good tips thanks Vince!  May I ask which waterslide sheets & coating you use please matey?  I have no idea when it comes to this sort if thing!  I have a powder coating machine so my enclosures look nice, just really, really shite graphics!!

Here I am again!

This is a bearhug FET compressor I just built a few hours ago. The wiring was so frustrating 'cause it was really messy inside.

Awesome! Parts for this should arrive any day now. What do you think of this compressor?

Absolutely noiseless, transparent, and I tried this comp with a guitar and a bass. Both of them sounded smooth and the sustain really got me! The other compressor I've been using is a MOEN compressor, and the noise when I turn up the comp knob is kinda annoying. But Bearhug Comp is no doubt quieter than any comps I've tried.

You might need to lie down those electrolytic capacitors if you try to squeeze the board into a 1590A. Good luck!
