Hi,
This build is driving me nuts. Having built the pedal and encountered squeal when the distortion pot is maxed out, I thought I'd try my go-to cure, namely a Klon buffer. While that stopped the squealing, it also had an adverse effect on both the distorted tone and the gate control. Not good.
I then tried a FET buffer and although that stopped the squealing and played nicely with the distortion and gate, there was an unpleasant and quite audible motorboating with the distortion dimed.
This is where it gets weird. I placed a Tube Screamer in front to see if the buffer in that would cure the squealing. It did. I then built the bit of the TS that was in circuit (the input and output buffers plus the power supply), added that and, you've guessed it, the squeal came back.
At this point I'm totally flummoxed. Ive also tried shielded input wire and shortening all the pot wires as much as possible, with no difference.
I noticed that the final comment on the Brown Dog page on the main site mentions the squeal too and I was wondering if anyone else here had encountered it or had any further ideas. Right now, I'd be prepared to try voodoo!
Cheers!
