Clarinot Clean Version Mod

SpaceCommandant
From the pedal designer:

"If you'd like a truly clean clari, add a buffer on the front end (I use a jfet), split the signal to the 386, and the pt2399.
Replace the 100k resistor that feeds the PT with a 12k resistor.
For the buffer a standard J201 1m 10k setup, with two 10uf caps (one to the delay chip, one to the env follower)."

After looking over the schematic I'm having a hard time visualizing where exactly on the 2399 the 10uf connects to.

This layout has the clean mod already built in.  There is also a thread about adding an lfo mod.  It works great clean, but because the signal isn't as hot, the modulations aren't quite as crazy.  Honestly they still are pretty wild, even with low output single coils and the fact that there's no fuzz there makes them much clearer and more prominent, but if you boost the level, the pitch shifting goes nuts, so its nice to have that option, too.  The buffer is probably just to keep the signal strength up.

I got around that by just using a clean boost.    I'm not good enough (or rather I'm too lazy to try) to make a layout incorporating a buffer or clean boost, so I just built a separate one on another board and wired them together.

I’ve built the above layout but I find there’s still a dirty sound there, almost like it’s layered in with the clean sound. I suppose I should try some other chips in case that’s the issue.
