A one-knob fuzz based on the Colorsound fuzz wah from what I understand. It sounds monstrously huge, anyone up to do a vero strip layout on this one? I'm embarrassed to say that I lack the tact to breadboard even one as simple as this...thanks!
I built one using the 1 knob fuzzes layout from the main page (along with the the Meatheads and Ritual). It seems I added an extra column for the 820R coming from 9v. I could have kept it the original size by moving some parts over though.
Going off the colorsound 1 knob fuzz specs in the 1 knob fuzz bonanza layout, it seems that with the fuzzbud, creepyfingers has changed the 10k to a 47k, the 2.2k to a 5.6 k, 150k to 100k, output cap from 220n to 100n, and also added the 100 ohm resistor + 1M input pulldown resistor.
Also, in the first PCB from effects layouts it seems that the 100R goes in series from the 820R/47K junction to the 5.6K to the output cap junction, but in these other layouts from FSB the 5.6k is coming straight off the Q2 collector up to the output junction and also the 100R is in parallel with the output rather than coming off the 820R in series. Unless I'm misreading both of them, heh. Thoughts?
Rocket88, if I wanted to add a Fuzz knob to the layout with the added tone knob how would I wire that in? I know id replace the 1k that's tied to the 10u and the 100k and put lug one to ground, and ideally lug 2 would go to the 10u and lug 3 to the 100k but just not sure how to hook that up to the layout?
1. On the bottom drill diagram, the cut at A11 should be on A10 (the upper one was correct)
2. The polarity diode is backwards or something, it didn't work at first with the diode placed as shown in the layout, so I removed it and put it from G2 to G3 with anode (negative) facing the right of the board and it sprung to life!
All in all, I'm super-impressed with this one. It sounds mammothly huge and hangs with a all of my high-end boutique fuzz boxes. Every bit as crushing as the demo vids I've watched.
So in conclusion, thanks very much for the input on this today guys and a big shout out to Mug for doing a whole schematic/vero layout. Stay heavy good people!
It is, the schematic is just oriented almost 180 degrees from yours. The 5.6 k does not come directly off the q2 collector in storyboards layout either if you look at it. We were going off storyboard's layout for this schematic, not yours :)
Yeah I think storyboardist might have made a mistake here.....at the end of the day it's just a fuzz face so it should match nocentelli's schematic above. This slight error might explain the massive volume some people have been experiencing with his layout. I haven't the time to sim it at the minute but my gut says he got it wrong
