DIY 18v compressor for mixing?

Strassercaster1
hey guys i got my old protools rig up and running its windows m powered xp protools 7.3 I use a m audio project mix i bought new in 2008. I blew a firewire chip about 5 years ago and recently repaired it. I  have waves from 2008 and the waves V series neve preamps and compressor and api waves with 2500 buss compressor. I want to make a nice outboard compressor nothing to fancy just to add some analog color.

Any of the compressors for guitar good for mixing at line level? I made a holy roller but it distorts . I would love to make a high headroom 18/24v compressor any suggestions?

Or you could try the engineers thumb, it’s suppose to be a pretty great compressor, my money’s still on the Diamond optical comp though with active tilt eq for added tone shapping if wanted, if not there’s a layout that omits it. Plus the components will be far easier to source.  If you need a link for affordable Vactrols let me know

This is definitely "fancy" but it's supposed to be studio quality and works at +/- 12V (with a regular 9V power supply): http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.fr/2016/04/that-jam-compressor.html

I built an Engineer's Thump, nice compressor and you can get as many controls as you want.

Thank you for the confirmation (i'm planning to use 25V electrolytic capacitors).
