Fulltone 69 NPN AC176

Hey fellas. I have some AC-176 transistors in my drawer in pairs. Can I revise layout of the 69 to be +9v by reversing the electrolytics and using these NPN trannies? Or is that just the drill for using NPN in a PNP design but it remains -9v?
