Hi all,
I would also suggest to try different values for the bypass cap, e.g. from 100uf to 1uf. For my taste it highly depends on the clipping diodes used, which bypass cap on the transistor sounds best. The bypass cap decouples the AC gain from the DC bias and puts a frequency range on max gain (with gain pot set to max). The effect especially on the mid frequencies and the harmonics generated by the clipping can be influenced by this value. It looks like most of the time I like 10UF for GE Diodes and 47uf for SI Diodes.

anthony
