Yea I've been thinking of doing the same. Sad thing is I had a chance to get a 1978 candy apple red rick 4003(4001?) for $700 like 13yrs ago, but bought my g&l l-1000 instead. I'm beyond happy that I have the l-1000 but it haunts me that I don't have that rick.
