Help please - Need to drop output level slightly on EQD Tentacle build

Hi All -

New to this forum and so glad I joined!

I recently built the EQD Tentacle clone (EQD Tentacle) and actually combined it in the same housing as a BMP Ram's Head 73 - my own "OctaFuzz".  Separate footswitches for each.  

My problem is this:
 - the Tentacle boosts the signal too much, regardless if I use it with the BMP, or any other OD or distortion pedal before it.  Can someone suggest a mod to help me drop the output volume slightly?  Ideally, I'd like to just set and forget it with a trimpot.

One other slightly annoying issue is a pop when stepping on either footswitch - would an extra cap somewhere at the inputs of both circuits work?  If yes, what value, and where?

Do a passive master volume for it. Output of the Tentacle into lug 3 of a 100K Audio pot, lug 2 to output of the switch and lug 1 to ground.

One more related question. I want to use an internal trimpot for this. I only have a 10k trim that will fit on my circuit board. Since I assume the volume control you suggested is a simple voltage divider, what is the impact of using a 10k pot instead of 100k? Less available level attenuation, or could it have come other negative impact to this circuit (or subsequent pedals in the chain)?

I dunno dude, most pedals use 100K audio but some use 10K linear. Test and find out.
