How to replace Trimmer with pot

kirshman
I'm looking at building this

From this link http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2010/03/few-veros.html?m=1

I want to replace the trimmer with an external pot.  How do I do this?  Do you tie pin 2 & 3 together on top row and pin 1 to the row with q2 collector?

What I usually do is just solder wires to the points where the trimmer leads are supposed to be. Bottom two are the outside leads of a potand the top one is the middle lead.

not necessarily, cause it depends on the trimmer on the layout. if it's an inline trimmer the middle leg is lug 2 of the pot and the top & bottom are lugs 1 & 3, which you may need to flip once you wire up the pot if it acts backwards from what you want. if the trimmer is a box trimmer you, like the one in the layout you posted, 2 of the legs are inline and one that's offset. the offset leg is lug 2 of the pot and the two inline are lugs 1 & 3, again you may need to flip once you wire up the pot if it acts backwards from what you want. usually if you look at the trimmer it has the legs marked.

So in the above example I'm only gonna wire 2 of the lugs on the pot then right.  It would be 1 & 2 or 2 & 3?

close. if you look carefully at the layout you'll notice that 1 of the legs of the pot isn't connected to the circuit, while the middle leg is connected to the top row and what looks like leg 1 is connected to row 5. so you have 2 options since 1 leg isn't connected, either leave 1 lug of the pot not connected or connect it to lug 2.
