Less than unity gain on morning glory

I built this and sent it out and the guy says that the output is only Approaching unity when the volume is dimmed.

Unfortunately I don't have any photos of the board to share. Any suggestions for things to look at?

I had this issue with my Rat because the output J-fet was reversed. Maybe start there?
