I built this last night and it is pretty noisy with a pair of 2N3906's. So I took out one of those and put an AC125 in Q2 and that got rid of all the hiss and the fizzle at the end of notes when they decay.
I would love to try it out with pure 2n3906s so I suspect I should buy like 20 and audition them all until I get a pair that work properly.
But on the other hand, I may keep it as a hybrid LOL
