Could someone tell me whats going on with IC1 as it looks to me as though there should be 2 of them. My schematic skills are limited so apologies if its a stupid question. I just wouldn't mind having a go at making a vero but that bit is confusing me.

Hey

yeah looks like there are four opamp stages.  NE5532 is a dual opamp so you would need two.

The other opamp is unusual, you don't see DIL20 chips so often.

It's a shame the schematic isn't clearer.

I could have a crack at a pcb layout if you want me to.  I can send you the files and you can get them fab'd.

I'd be inclined to breadboard it first tho to make sure it works

Ok, thats good to know. If you look at the datasheet for the M51134 the sample circuit is very similar to this circuit so i reckon it would be good to go. Let me see if i can design a vero first, i don't think it should be that difficult, but saying that have only done a couple so far. If it sounds ok might do the PCB of it.

I've a vero almost finished. Should be checked carefully however

Had an attempt at designing a vero for this but it came out massive. Really need to practice more. How did you get on KT?

Looks like the  octave portion of the Meatbox- closer to the reissue  which uses op  amps for the buffers

I think i might leave this to the experts. Its only my second attempt and i'm biting off way more than i can chew. I think i'll stick to smaller builds until i improve. I do find PCBs easier to design to be fair, but prefer making vero as its quicker.

This wasn't easy to layout.
There were some later changes made to the posted schematic.
They can be found here:

The vero master comes to the rescue. Thanks Alex. On holiday for the next two weeks, but was going to try and box some pedals. Looks like they will have to wait a bit longer.

Verified! Quite nice octaver. Need to play with it a bit more and find where it works best in a chain. Thanks again Alex .

Edit: this isn't just quite nice its amazing! Depending on the pedal before or after gives some really interesting results. With the Doomidrive before it i was getting some really nice subwoofery sounds. More experementation needed. Modulation next. Its really good with bass also.

Where is the schematic you used because I've built it and am getting nothing out but when I check the schematic from diy there are a lot of discrepancy's parts missing added parts. Just making sure I'm using the right verified layout.

I've built Alex's layout and it works great. It's the dropbox link on the DIYSB thread for the schem. I didn't check to see if Alex's layout included the mods or not but it sounds amazing as is!

Thanks for the response. There are a few mods and/or changes to the schematic but if someone got to work it must be something I'm missing on my build I'll keep searching.

If you're at the end of your tether with it let me know and I'll whack it in the testing rig and get you some voltages if that helps.

Maybe post some pictures of your board component side and solder side in the Debugging section in the forum then quite a few of us here can try to see if we can help. I have built this and can provide a component side photo of mine if it helps.

I'm wondering if I don't have some bad NE5532 chips I was going to try and switch those out before I posted photo's and all. If that doesn't work I'll hit up the debugging section. I just wanted to make sure I was using the right layout since there are 2 in this thread. Thanks

Which layout did you build. I went with Alex's layout. The first one i think is incomplete, correct me if i'm wrong.
