I saved this from somewhere and of course have lost the source:
"here is another tape head experiment to try. take an old tape head, run a signal through two of the wires. they saturate really fast when you use it like a resistor. there you have a very different kind of distortion for free in a dumpster dive."
I tried a bunch of different kinds of old tape heads, and an LPB1 boost before and after, and am not getting any saturation as mentioned above.
What do you think is meant by "use it like a resistor"? Perhaps I'm missing the point entirely.
