Midland 14-623 4 transistor 9v amplifier

Now for something a little different!
I found this 1960s vintage transistor amplifier and thought it might be fun to convert to guitar usage.
I couldn't find a schematic or manual, but the ad copy says it runs on 9V DC. I hooked it up to an 8 ohm speaker and then released some magic smoke
I couldn't locate where the smoke was coming from, but note there is a disc capacitor inbetween the transformers
Please let me know if you might have more information on this little amp!

If those electrolytics are also from the 60s, I'd start by swapping them all out.
I also see a couple of solder joints near the ground wire that look cold.
Sorry, I don't have any other info or a schematic, but it looks like it should be pretty easy to trace.
