Modified Peppermill

i randomly came across this video on youtube for some samples of different clipping diodes. i think it's a pretty cool take on the peppermill. it has a bias pot added to affect the bias of the jfet, and a switch to choose between different diodes and diode arrangements. thing it sounded pretty awesome, especially on bass. i'm going to make a layout with switchable clipping diodes too.

I like the Peppermill, but I've always wished there were a version with more overdrive.
Not too much, just enough to get it into a moderate overdrive territory.

I've tried the GuitarPCB TODD, but it has issues. The tone control sweep is way off.
If you change the necessary components to correct it, it loses output(!?). I brought
it up at the GPCB forums, but Barry denies the modified PM they make has any issues.
I know someone else who had the same problem, if it were just me, I'd suspect it was
user error.

I'm thinking maybe the Nagy blue Magic would be the way to go.
I didn't shoot anyone.

I would try the Blue Magic, as it has a tone control and is pretty similar to the Peppermill.  If you want more gain from the Peppermill, try increasing the source cap on the J201 jfet from 1 uF to 10 uF (or higher).
