Mxr custom baddass 78 dist problems

Hi guys, ive had a couple of problems with builds lately but this one peed me off.

So the problem is im getting this really cheewy fuzz like bounce almost squarewaveish when i strike a chord. I hear heavy compression and it sounds like a fuzz. Either with the dist cranked or not.
