Naga Viper voltages

nonost
H! I've build this pedal and it is my first Rangemaster alike npn booster. It sounds as it should I think. The pot Range not only boosts the highs at higher settings, it also boosts the lows at minimum.

What looks strange to me are the voltages:

C: 6.4v
B: 1.8v
E: 1.2v

With 8v battery.

are they ok? They look odd to me...

Cheers!

Re: Naga Viper voltages

induction
This post was updated on .
They look spot on to me.

R1 = 220k
R2 = 68k
Rc = 10k
Re = 8.2k

Vb = 8V * 68/(68+220) = 1.9V
Ve = Vb - 0.65V = 1.2V
Vc = 8V - Ve*10/8.2 = 6.5V

Thank you so much for taking your time. I really appreciate it

That's great and exactly the kind of thing I need to learn more basic stuff. I'm going to study this now.

Cheers!

Re: Naga Viper voltages

induction
Glad to help.

Most of the diagram is based on Ohm's Law: V = IR (voltage = current * resistance).

If you need help figuring out how to get from Ohm's Law to the equations in the diagram, let me know. Memorizing them works, too. I just find them easier to remember when I know how to derive them.
