Ne555 or 7660s charge pump?

Subject is the question,  I'm in pursuit of a di box and I can't get the phantom powered one to work, so I'm going to try and build johnk's active di box.  It needs a charge pump, and I'm just wondering which ones you use and why?

I use 7660S. it's fewer parts.
