One knob bit crusher

Can anyone recommend a one knob (preferably) bit crusher? Ideally for bass but I'm sure it may be adaptable by switching caps etc. I'm looking for one to possibly put in a dual pedal.

I saw that one mate but comments about a constant 'whine' puts be off

Would such a pedal be helped by eliminating input signal when there is no playing? A noisegate in front of it? Or will it still 'whine'?
