PT2399 Super delay

amsterdam
Found this over at FSB from a user called NOC3 back from 2009.

http://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4308

"Inspired by just about every PT2399 delay out there, companding like the PT80, Trem and Modulation like the Magnus Modulus and SWTC2 as found on AMZ.

Features:
Up to 1 sec of delay
Companding for more authentic analog sound and lower noise
Charge pump w/12 volt regulator for higher headroom.
Tone control for repeats
Pitch modulation for repeats
Expression pedal jacks for repeats and level
Buffered FX loop for clean or delayed signals, FX send can also be used as a stereo out
Tremolo switchable for only clean or delayed signals"

This one looks intimidating.

If you will build it, I'll draw it up.

Should keep me busy for a while...

The OP said he thought it was correct and ordered PCBs, but it seems like he never came back to the thread. I couldn't seem to find any other info on it.

If you do draw it, I will certainly build it.  I'll just need to place an order for the MAX, the 7812, and that ne571 chip, so it would be some time before I'd be able to start.

Re: PT2399 Super delay

MAO
ok, so after many iterations I ended up splitting it into 7 boards.

This should help with the off board wiring and may help squeeze it into a smaller enclosure.

1. Input
2. Compander
3. Delay
4. Modulation
5. Tremolo
6. Output
7. Power Supply

The Compander and Delay boards are connected together at the "C7" connection.

I would suggest using a power distribution daughterboard to run the 12v, ground and Vref to the various boards. (See Power Supply board for example)

And here are the switch types and functions:
Sw1 SPDT (Delay)
Sw2  SPST (Oscillation)
Sw3 DPDT (Dry/Wet)
Sw4 SPST (Dry Kill)
Sw5  DPDT (Trem Dry/Wet)
SW6  DPDT (Tremolo)
Sw7 SPDT (Short/Long)
Sw8  SPST (Modulation)

Good luck!

Think I'm done with layouts for a while :0)

Thank you

It was a monster, but fun trying to work it all out.

I hope you pull it off!

Re: PT2399 Super delay

BTW, you could probably get it started without the Modulation or Tremolo boards as first, as they are switched options.

If all goes well, add them in next.

Can't wait for the updates...

Thanks Frank, that means a lot!

Yeah, I'm tempted to give it a go myself, but I have to many others to finish up 1st.

I'm able to get down to my workbench now, so I should be building again this week.If I can knock out a bunch this week, I may be able to give this one a go next week. We'll see.

What do you suggest for D1 & D2 on the compander board? I didn't see anything specific in the schematic, although I may be blind. Cheers
