Here's a simple distortion from the folks at Runoffgroove. I dubbed it Sili-Face + because I added two clipping diodes at the end (which can be omitted). This one sounded really good to me for such a simple one-knob circuit (a fuzz face variant). Tweak the trimmer to achieve ~4.5V on the collector of Q2.
Thanks for drawing it up. I imagine a number of different transistors can be used - or at least tried on this, correct? I love these small distortions but I have never made anything with BC transistors that I liked.
I don't think this is fussy about the transistors. Any NPNs will work. Try 2n5088s or whatever you have on hand - but mind the pinout (the one shown is for standard 2n5088, 2n2222, 2n3904 transistors). I happen to have a bunch of vintage BC108Cs and love them for overdrive/distortion/fuzz circuits.
