ROG Thunderbird (pcb build)

Hey all,

Just built another Thunderbird using the 1776 pcb.  Getting a really faint hiss from it and nothing else when engaged.

I checked all the voltages and every pin voltage lines up with those detailed in the ROG pdf *except* IC1 pin 1 is reading 24V instead of 12V.  Any ideas why this would be the case?   Short on C10?

Anyone built off this board?  I've retraced everything and I'm not seeing any shorts and double checked my wiring... not sure why there's 24V heading into pin 1.

I used the 1776 pcb recently without any problems - just checked my voltages (sorry it's a while after your post: I didn't get a chance before now), and I get 12 and a bit volts, as per the 1776 notes, at ic1 pin 1, so the board would seem to be blameless. Would have thought an "invisible" solder bridge on a pcb unlikely, so I'd say your suspicion of a faulty component is most likely. Good luck!

If you pull out IC1, 2, and 3, what's the resistance from pin 1 to 8 on IC1 socket?

Hi - resistance is O.L between ic 1 sockets 1 and 8 with ic 1,2 and 3 removed. (board not under power, and nothing plugged into the input jack, so the R pad isn't connected to ground, not that I think this would make a difference to the resistance between socket pins 1 and 8).

Ok, that's what I thought.  Mine reads ~150k.  To the magnifying glass!
