Rat 2 issues

zoof
Built 2 boards off the rat 2 layout from the main page, and got a silly error on both... No sound unless I touch the bottom of the vero in the area from the op-amp and all the way right. If I'm lucky I even get quite a bit of volume :) Sounds like it should and all... triple checked cuts, links and components (theres no solder bridges).. Any Ideas where I screwed up?

Thanks!

It doesn't work because the layouts here are stripboard layouts and you have used perfboard (pad per hole)

The rows should be connected horizontally, except where they are seperated by cuts.

it is stripboard, they just made it look this way. really nice to work on when things get tight  :)

So.. They painted the copper green? Cause the way the solder has flown really looks like it's all separate 'squares'  and does not seem like the long lanes of copper on your board are connected. It looks like there's green cuts between all the holes.
Have you used this board before? I'm not trying to be smart, I'm just curious. Never have seen it before.

The green layer on top is a solder mask with cutouts for each hole. It prevents solder from flowing from one hole to the next, but the copper strips are continuous underneath it.

First time I bought them, the guy at the store had no clue and I didn't really trust the markings "line tracks" printed on the actual board either. I did how ever beep test the board before starting to build :) It is lines however, so thats not my problem.

Have someone had the same error as described? I mean, its a rather simple circuit... It's on the "try to fix later" pile for now.. I'm thinking one or more bad cheap pots.. Since the same stuff happened on two separate builds, or I missed something obvious.. Things have a tendency to disappear :)

what he said!

I don't know if I like these boards or not yet.. The holes are smaller than the average board as well. Had to change a couple of components on another build using the same board, that was a whole lot easier at least.
