Resistors question

This post was updated on .
I'm new at this stuff. Thinking of building overdrive pedal. Does it matter if you use 1/4w, 1/8w ,1/2w resistor ? whats better Carbon, Film or Composition?
Thanks

The layouts are done with 1/4W resistors in mind in terms of physical size, but you can use any without problem.  Some SMD effects are built with resistors rated 1/16W and less

Film resistors tend to be a tighter tolerance and so its best to use these if a precise value is required (ie for biasing a transistor), in terms of sound, there will be very little if any difference between them. Use whatever you can get your hands on!
