Signal tracing through an op

Ive made a signal tracer to fault find a timmy
Ive got signal up to pin 3 of the op amp but nothing from the other pins
(Meter showsfrom 9v at pin 8 and 0v at pin 4 as expected)
Does this mean i have faulty opamp or could it be a fault in the circuit ‘beyond’ the op amp
 Probably a stupid qustion but i cant find any problems in rest of circuit
Ive even tried putting sigal thro the output jack and been able to trace it backwards with the probe and its pointing to op amp failure

If you socket the ICs it’s really easy to pop another one in there to see if that’s the problem.

From what you said you can’t really say 100% if it’s the IC or not but you seem to have a good indication that it could be the problem

Thanks travis. Really struggling with this but wont give up. Have ordered some replacement opamps and ive socketed it so will see what happens

i had a problem like that once - turns out it was the actual socket that a discontinuity between the pin and the IC.

i'd double check the voltages on the socket also and continuity to make sure it's not the socket.

I put another op amp and it worked ( after a fashion). Some whistling at end of some pot travel will trim  leads as theyre a bit long and might be the parasitic thing
Also, stragely the volume pot isnt working at all . And yet its the last connection before the footswitch.! No doubt my error, will have a further look. At least i know power supply, ics and bass circuit is ok, still not sure about drive / treble. Need to tidy up wiring before i lose another weekend !
Progress at least eh?
