Soldering iron...

Ravenswerld
So, I have a hakko fx88d. The ceramic tip went out on it so I had to fix it. Since I don’t have two soldering irons I had to bend a nail and heat it up on the stove to fix it. Crazy I needed a soldering iron to fix my soldering iron. Anyways, if your hakko tip starts to get all out of whack and not heating up correctly. Well then you may need to replace it with a new ceramic tip!!!

It lasted around 3 yrs or so. Not really sure though as I’m not good at remembering stuff like that. One thing I will say is that there was multiple occasion where I forgot turn it off (rushing off to work) for 10’s of hrs. I know that has a lot to do with it failing so soon. I have read people having to replace them regularly with heavy use though so it is not uncommon. Now it works great again:) it’s a $20 part.
