Spam and comment moderation

Hi guys & gals

We've been getting a lot more spam recently and I want to make sure it's all eradicated from the site because it can give you site a bad reputation if it contains links to untrusted or suspect material.  So to try to combat it I've changed the settings of the main blog so comments need to be moderated before they appear on the site.  I will get an email when a post needs moderating so I will do it continuously when I get the messages and hopefully the delay in the message appearing won't be too long.  

Hopefully there is a feature that will allow certain posters to be always approved so after a while there will be no delay at all for most regular posters, but I'll have to wait and see what controls are available to me when I get notifications.

Hopefully it won't be permanent and moderation can deter some of the arse holes but we'll have to see how it goes.

good catch on that one man. i've been trying to stay on top of them and delete as i see them. i think the only way to really get rid of them is to go so a format where DIYSB or FSB. that just opens up another can of worms though and having to sort of start over.

Yes it's hard to control it.  I didn't mind when it's just the odd one but I've noticed loads come in pretty much simultaneously so it's nice to catch them as they come in and reject them.  I'll just keep it like this as long as people don't start getting pissed off with the slight delay sometimes

I'm sure that most of us don't mind a bit of delay now and then, and as long as it it doesn't distort things too much then you'll probably hear a chorus of approval....well that's my feedback on the subject noted sorry, couldn't help myself, hope evryone is keeping well
