Switchable buffer - how?

HI All

I am trying to switch in a buffer before a main circuit (compressor)

Current setup is with an SPDT On/On switch on the input - can I do it this way?

so far, through the buffer the signal is sharp and clear, but through the buffer off side the signal is weak. I wondered if I needed a diode after the buffer (like a non-return valve in plumbing).

When the buffer is bypassed, it is still connected to the compressor input, and therefore you are putting a load on the input of the compressor by doing it this way.
Simply use the standard bypass switch wiring instead (minus the LED's) on a DPDT toggle switch.

just to clarify - can you see any issues with the following?




The reason I want the buffer is it will come after the wah/fuzz end in the signal chain, but before the compressor. Other wise all pedals will be true bypass with about 30ft of signal path between guitar and amp. But switchable is good, so I can check the effect of the buffer

Looks good to me...
Now you can buffer the signal even if the compressor is bypassed.
A nice feature!
