Two pedals one enclosure: switching which comes first?

Is there a simple switching circuit for switching signal chain within an enclosure? I want to build a simple dirty boost, such as the blue plate special, and I want to put a drive in the box with it. My struggle is I'd like to drive the drive with the boost or alternatively use the boost on the back end. I'm basically creating my own Fulltone GT500 with boost and drive circuits I prefer. Any thoughts out there? Many thanks!
