Tycobrahe Octavia

cns0270
Hello all,

I recently built the Tycobrahe Octavia and being unsure as to it being positive or negative ground, I did not install a DC jack. Well, after eating through 2 batteries, I am wanting to install the jack. I used the vero layout on this site.

Can someone tell me if installing the jack on this particular pedal will be as simple as wiring it normally or, if there is something different I would need to do. I read somewhere that if it is a negative ground pedal, I would have to flip the capacitors around.

Any help and insight would be greatly appreciated and much thanks in advance.

It's negative ground. The easiest way to tell is look at the voltage going into the effect. If it says 9V or +9V you know it's negative ground. If it says -9V then it's positive ground.

Thank you, Rockett88. So, if it is negative ground, am I correct in that I will need to flip the caps 180 degrees?

If you built the layout as it's shown then you don't have to flip anything, as it's setup for negative ground.

Awesome! I really do appreciate the help with this. New to this stuff and am still learning something new everyday.

Again, many thanks.

any time buddy. glad to help. like i said before, if you're every worried about the polarity of the circuit (positive ground or negative ground) just look at the voltage going in.

-9V positive ground
9V or +9V negative ground

btw, great attitude. you'll get the hang of things the more you build, and the more you learn. don't forget, don't be afraid to ask questions if you can't find an answer, or don't understand the answers available to you.
