Varnish

MOPO
Hello,

I would like to know which varnish you used for the finish because I will change mine because sometimes it cracks after a few times ............
Currently I use this one

Hey there!

I use something called Motip (effect) clearcoat. Happy with the results!

But check if your paints are compatible.. I'm not an expert, but I think there are waterbased paints and solvent/oil based paints.

If you paint the enclosure with an oil-based, but then varnish it with a waterbased clearcoat, it won't stick properly and eventually cracks. Unless you give it weeks and weeks, the oils will have dried out and it should be possible to use a waterbased clearcoat.

I'm sure others will have a better scientifically explaination of the above, but my point is: Check if they're compatible ;)

For paintings I use the same brand

https://www.urban-painters.com/bombe-peinture-graffiti-belton-molotow-premium-400ml.html

And also felts one4all acrylic

Maybe also the problem comes from the temperature at the time of varnishing, so I made myself a varnish box to varnish in an isolated room and no longer in the garage.

Thanks for the info on motip

Since I'm not in Europe I'm not going to suggest a specific brand, but what I use is automotive spray paint. I use both the same brand and type of paint. It's really important to make sure the paint is the same type/composition to prevent a reaction. Also, even though it's a topic of debate, but I find that baking my paint makes it adhere better, more durable, and I end up with a better finish overall.

I use Rustoleum acrylic enamel that I get in the automotive section of a Walmart. Probably not the most durable finish but holds up OK.
