Veroboard link question

antvas1963
Hello, I am new to this site. I have built three pedal kits. I want to try a veroboard build and have the board and layout.
I understand the red boxes or “ cuts” are where you sever the copper strip. I am not clear on the links. Are they placed on the component side or the copper side? Are the links bare wire, if so what is the reason for that? Any help is really appreciated. Thanks

Place them on the component side. I use the clipped leads from other components as links.

If that is your first intended vero build....good luck but I would start with something much easier!

Thank you for the reply. I think I may take your advice and do a simpler pedal. I already have enough fuzzes.

Search the forum for Freppo's Noise Ensemble layout. Its pretty easy and quite a fun one to play.

Starting simple is a great plan, not as a slight to your solder skills or any such thing, but more as a "learning how things go bad" tool. You will fail, theres no way around it and having something simple to learn to debug with is an easier process than something like the Snow White!

Good luck.

I'd +1 that 100% there are plenty of useful, small and quite simple but great sounding pre-amp, EQ, drive/distortion circuits that are well worth doing. If they work first time then you have something good, and if there are a few isssues, well at they're at least relatively simple to sort out, then onwards and upwards

A few successful simple builds does wonders for  confidence, and a few simple issues resolved does wonders for your confidence that you can resolve issues
