Volume drop in EHX Screaming Bird

Lee
I just got EHX Screaming Bird built, and it seemed to have slight volume drop even I turned the pot all the way up. This did not happen in hogs foot. The unity volume of hogs foot was at about 1/3 of the boost. Is that normal that screaming bird has volume drop?

Has anyone experienced this?

I built one a long time ago and I don't remember it having a volume drop. I remember it being very harsh though. Maybe check you have the correct value components, try another transistor and check for tiny shorts on the board by running a knife in between the tracks.

I replaced the 10k to a 18k, so finally I got some boost instead of a volume drop.

Don't know how this layout works as I have the orginal pedal.... and is a loud and powerful  boost, so something must be wrong to get a volume drop.

I think I need to clarify that I was playing bass through my VOX ac1 and I built hogs foot and screaming birds.

I actually re-soldered the circuit with 16.8k replacing the 10k resistor. I tried 20k, but it just became overdrive without being louder.

So here is what I've got:

As I plugged into hogs foot, the volume exceeded the unity when the pot being after 10 o'clock; as I plugged into screaming birds, the volume almost reached unity when the pot being at 5 o'clock, which is the max of its boost.

Anyway, I reckon that'd be enough for me. Thanks !
