Sounds awesome, there's no reason to build a stock tube screamer, really! Here's mine!

Thanks! By the time I took that picture, it was missing the 470R resistor and the pulldowns were 10k. I just changed it to 1M, and sounds great, thanks a lot for the awesome layout, it was a breeze to wire!

Very nice.  I will have to build this one (eventually), as I'm an overdrive addict (did I just say that?).

So far, though, the best overall distortion/overdrive I have built is the Ibanez Mostortion.  I've been doing a lot of A/B tests with plain tube screamers (with a wide range of clipping options), ODR-1, Zendrive, etc. and the Mostortion is phenomenal and just cut above most of the others.  Must be something about that CA3260 CMOS chip...

At some point, though, I'll have to revisit all of the overdrives I've built over the last two years or so (probably at least 30 - 40), and decide what to keep and what to toss...

Hi guys,
does it matter which kind of transistors to use?
I mean, does they drastically affect the sound of this circuit?
For the one of you who build it, which kind of trnnies did you use?
Thanks!
Paolo.

They're just used as buffers.  Use whatever you have.  In fact, if you use only 1 for the four in a row it will work just fine, saving you a few parts

Hi.

I was wondering if you can help me with something.
I like the tone of Green Rhino and I would like to use it as a clean(ish) boost.
But is has too much drive.
Will replacing the 3K3 resistor (R21 on the original PCB) with a 4K7 resitor help?

Thanks.

Easier just to use a lower value Gain pot.  If it's still too high gain then lower the 61K off gain 1
