What is EIA Decade Resistor Value -- Go!

I again everyone!

I am running low on my current 1% met-film resistors. My current E-Series is a kludge between E24 and E96 and I prefer to clean up the "mess" I created 2 years ago.

So with that, I am considering a move to 5% Carbon and would like a suggestion as to what you use for your E-series. On face value, I am looking at E12 but I think I would prefer E24.

I would go with E24, I think that's what I'm using now. But I've essentially got everything in 1% metal film. E12 is the "common" decade to use but E24 gives you more flexibility without yielding values that are uselessly close together for audio applications.

Why 5% carbon though? It should be pretty easy to do 1% metal, and you get the advantages of tighter tolerance and lower noise. I have a full set of 1% metal that cost only negligibly more than the same thing in carbon.
