Zvex Wolly Mammoth - Volume knob

Hey guys
was hoping you could help
Im actually trying to mod an original Zvex Mammoth for a friend.
for his taste there is not much playing with the Volume (output) knob as if he turns it just a bit up and the volume is already way to high. my thought at start was to replace the value of the pot from 10k to 100k.. didnt do much.. would placing a 500k or 1M would result better ?
is it more like a inner circuit issue ? what resistor should I be looking at to maybe lower the bias of the output stage transistor ?

Change the 10K linear to 10K log
