clean boost -- a simple but cool op-amp booster by Jeroen -- (verified)

hi,

I've done extensive search here to find this booster, but no match, so I'll post it...
cause I've built it and it works very well... (it is verified)
I like the sound of my bass guitar through it (on my PC)

the schematic and the PCB you find here:
http://www.jer00n.nl/2010/07/28/clean-boost-for-guitar-or-bass/

I recommend a certain Paul's comment:

"This preamp sounds GREAT!  Since I built this for bass I changed C1 to a 4.7uF metal film cap to let more bass through. I also changed UI to a LT1351 and the pot to a 25K log taper. More than enough gain for bass"

my note: even 22nF sounds good... but let's tick to 100nF

here's the schematic with the parts numbered:

NOTE #1:  I've done some google searches, and realized that this is kind of "the" common op-amp based preamp / booster / amp :)
anyway, it works very well...

but you can check this simple op-amp booster, too:

.........
I'm going to do some tests...
#1 adding a cap to the vol pot so that the high won't roll off as the volume is turned down...
#2 adding a pot replacing "R4", the 220K resistor, which is now already 470K,
and changing the volume like this... by changing the gain...

the GAIN being:   20*log(1+(R4/R3))

a note:
the 4.7u film CAP is surprisingly big, also, very probably doesn't make sense functionally, either
