dreams of the Boss HM2 are fading...

Jon the Art Guy
I just found another company building a Boss HM2 clone, and it has one knob! HOLY MOLEY WE MIGHT BE ONTO SOMETHING!

This pedal would be the JD Music Labs "Buzzsaw", and it's not a dead-on clone, but it's very, very close. Maybe I can hand-make one with a stripped down design and not buy a Behringer HM300!

bah. Facebook page has a wonderful gut shot, with 4 SMD ICs amongst all the other tiny parts.

Looks like it's back to HM300 hunting.

I've done some googling and found a schem that doesn't look too insane.  The ICs look to be dual opamps and I've seen a couple of threads that suggest any of the usual suspects will work in the retail version, just in SIP rather than DIP packaging.  To make it more manageable you could use two TL074s, looks like you may be able to build it afterall :D

I've been wondering if a couple quad amps would work. I have very, very little understanding in circuit design, regardless of how many times I read about the subject. I'm a tactile/somatic learner, so getting a ready supply of parts to break seems counterproductive for a pedal i can just buy a $15-$30 clone of. It'd probably be a better choice to rebox a Behringer SMD unit with a handwired DS1 or 'Screamer and a compressor in there somewhere too.
