hey surgeon, i've used them in fuzzfaces no problem. but the one thing i do is i make the bias pot either a trimmer so i can adjust it to where i want it, or in my fuzzfaces i make an external bias. what i've found is i seem to prefer them with higher then normal voltage, like between 5-6V. i feel like that's part of magic in them, is that you have to adjust the circuit to get the most out of them, its not just plug and play like Si.

but, yea, Ge transistors are unreliable. i have some that should be 50-100hfe, but the majority test 40-50hfe. it's just the nature of the beast.
