Actually, I went ahead and did an LTSpice sim of the Superbolt
, and it showed me that the frequency response is pretty flat from 100Hz - 2KHz and falling off thereafter. The 12k/3.3n filters at the end roll off the treble, so try removing that those end filters and see your treble increases.
I think your idea of using a Baxendall or similar is a good one, but you'll lose some signal in the process (not a big deal since you have a gain stage). Perhaps a modified BigMuff tone control would do the trick with fewer parts? See Jack Orman's different configurations for some ideas.
