I also built the layout from Anders and I'm getting exactly the same issue as mnemonic:
all controls work, but almost no gain, dull sounding and woofy.
My voltages are roughly the same as his, so there may be a design mistake somewhere.
I'll try to find some time tomorrow to A/B this thing against the schematic and double-check my board for shorts, missing holes or other issues.
