wiring up a stereo fx insert jack?

hi, i am building two circuits in one box, but i want to have a stereo jack where you can plug in a stereo y-cable and put pedals in a loop between the two circuits. i've seen this in some other pedals, and i am at a loss as to how an implement this. any advice?

Neat idea! I've never seen this before, but here is how I would do it.. You'll need a TRS (stereo) switched jack of course.
